Re: Yay! Finally
01/20I can certainly relate. Crochet directions can drive you batty. I even had trouble making stars. Just look at photo of what you want to make and seeing the design and reading the directions should finally make sense-most times. -

Re: Yay! Finally
01/20I tend to be a person that if there is no picture to go along with the pattern, I most likely WONT be crocheting it.
Unless it is something very easy or a consistant repetitive stich, pictures are a big key to the pattern.
I can usually follow pattern directions pretty well...
But I've come across some patterns that are just plain written wacky.

Re: Yay! Finally
01/20Cool!
I have plans to make a giant granny-square blanket for a friend. Not a blanket made from the squares, but made as one giant one. Wish me luck, as I have crochet ADD & can never seem to do large projects. -

Re: Yay! Finally
02/07My friend did one for her first project, I'd never thought to do it that way. Just followed the directions for the kind of granny square that starts in the middle & is worked in a round but she kept going until it was big enough to cover the bed. Now I want to do one of those! New project!!!

Re: Yay! Finally
01/25I am trying so damned hard to learn to crochet granny squares, but I am just not getting it. What I actually need is to go spend time with my granny. I saw her Saturday and Sunday, but she wasn't feeling really good. She is a lady who could crochet in her sleep! (by the time I'm her age, I'll be able to, too.) I know if I keep trying, I'll finally get it. But aren't the directions a little confusing?
Congratulations! It is a great feat you accomplished. -

Re: Yay! Finally
02/07Oh, and congrats Jessica! It's always coolest when you finally conquer the directions that you have been unable to grasp. -

Re: Yay! Finally
06/02Well done, Jessica. I admire your dedication. It took me a while to get it too.
Now I am tackling a Teddy Bear for my best friend, Bev. Her favourite colour is bottle green.
