I posted this in the Knitters tribe, too...
My grandma gave me two skeins of wool yarn, yummy to the touch, chunky weight. One is a bark brown, the other a deep mossy green. They are 4 oz each. Anyone got any ideas? I wonder if it is enough for that felted bag I wanted to try. If I make it up as I go, I could make it enough maybe. Not sure how well it will felt, a paper tag says "Tall Yarns - 100% Wool - Made in Canada" and that's it.

Re: Ideas for Chunky Wool Yarn?
Fri, May 25, 2007 - 10:16 PMI've worked with a lot of wool yarn in the past. If it's loosly spun it should felt up nicely, if its a more tighter spin then it probably wont. Me, I use wool yarn to make slippers, but a bag would be very cool. :)

Re: Ideas for Chunky Wool Yarn?
Sat, May 26, 2007 - 10:12 PMDepending on how chunky the yarn is the yardage should be about 100 yards. That gives you 160 to 200 yards and should be enough to make a small bag. Remember, the finished product will be 1/3rd smaller that the knit or crocheted bag. -
