Hellooooo fellow hookers! ; )
I'm on a scarf crocheting kick lately. I ~finally~ graduated from the single and double crocheting basic things phase to the MUCH cooler-looking scarves. I found a great and easy pattern on the flip side of the Caron Simply Soft Brites label. They are turning out beautiful!
But I have a guy in mind who actually ~wants~ me to crochet him a scarf(!). Now he's a burner, and is definately unafraid of wild colors, but I can't see him wearing the lacy pattern that seems to me so feminine. Anyone have a more 'manly' scarf pattern for me to crochet? Oh, and an easy pattern is a good thing!

For scarves I like to find a yarn that really speaks to me and just going with it. I don't usually use patterns. I really like using varigated yarn and just let it's character come out.

I've done pretty simple scarves for men, like one in a nice charcoal gray baby alpaca yarn, crocheted lengthwise and in the back loops to create ribbing (for HIS pleasure ;). I made a basketweave-stitch scarf for my stepfather for his birthday this year in rust-colored lambswool.

I did a fantastic scarf for a friend of mine for Christmas. It's basically a slant-stitch pattern that I pilfered from a mile-a-minute afghan pattern.. I'll send you a pic if I can get him to send one, as well as the pattern if you're interested. You'll have to be creative and modify it yourself, however. I just had to improvise. If you're really interested in learning some good stitches you should invest $ .99 and buy Annie's Crochet Stitch Dictionary. I think they're available on ebay. (my granny gave me mine)
