YeeHaw Lady Hat from Happy Hooker

topic posted Thu, August 9, 2007 - 10:23 PM by  Nadya L
hi there. i just got myself the happy hooker book. i was just trying my hands on the yeehaw lady hat until im stuck in round 1. i hope you can enlighten me with the problem im facing. here goes:

in Rnd 1 it says I should have 15sc which I could get. Then in Rnd 2 it reads:

Rnd 2: Ch 1 (count as first pointed front sc), sc in each of next 3 sc (3), 2 sc in next sc (1), (sc,ch2,sc) in next sc (1) (front tip of hat), 2 sc in next next sc (1), sc in each of next 4 sc (4), 2 sc in each of next 4 sc (4) (rounded back of hat), sl st in next sc to join - 22sc.

somehow i just managed to get only 14 sticthes (higlighted in red) work into, which makes me left with the extra one sc. i know if i count the ch1 then i get the 15sc, but the ch1 was not worked into the next sc.

does the slip stitch count as 1 sc cuz it says slip stitch in next sc?

i hope this makes sense. i've tried the other forums to emailing dot and debbie but none had reply.

the edition i got was: 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2

please help...
thanx so much

p/s: i did try looking all over the web for the errata but it's not about the problem i'm facing

oops sorry i forgot there's no coloured font here:

in Rnd 1 it says I should have 15sc which I could get. Then in Rnd 2 it reads:

Rnd 2: Ch 1 (count as first pointed front sc), sc in each of next 3 sc , 2 sc in next sc , (sc,ch2,sc) in next sc (front tip of hat), 2 sc in next next sc , sc in each of next 4 sc , 2 sc in each of next 4 sc (rounded back of hat), sl st in next sc to join - 22sc.

somehow i just managed to get only 14 sticthes (higlighted in red) work into, which makes me left with the extra one sc. i know if i count the ch1 then i get the 15sc, but the ch1 was not worked into the next sc.

        hi yaya,

thanx for the suggestion. im sorry to say that i had actually went to check on her errata but i think this is another error not corrected or that im doing it wrongly.

have you tried making this hat?

i tried to make that hat literally 6 times and ripped it out each time. i just could not get past the same point where you are stuck. what's worse is that it was for a gift!!

if you ever figure the pattern out, please let me know. the yarn is still burning a hole in my stash. and i know my friend would still love the hat.

          hi again, Nadya! :-)
just checking in & wanted to make sure you had seen the correction
for Rnd 2 on the above pattern. i also saw your letter on another of her pages:
          go here: bythehook.blogdrive.com/archive/233.html
          and here: bythehook.blogdrive.com/archive/147.html
<scroll down to YeeHaw Lady Hat>
          here's the Rnd 2 correction:
Rnd 2: Ch 1 (counts as fi rst pointed front sc), <this next part is scratched out: sk fi rst sc sc>
i've started the hat & it IS working out correctly.
hope this helps you & the other tribe member who has frogged one to many times! ;-)
can't really comment on whether this is a good book for beginners but i do know
youtube is a good resource for visual aide in learning stitches.
          check it out, tribe!
here's one for the bullion stitch:

and a link for crochet basics:
